My Daily Makeup Routine – Part 1: The Face

It has been SO long since we’ve spoken,

In the last few weeks, life has surely gotten me off track. Getting ready for classes to start up again has been no joke, and so many things for the blog have either fallen through or been postponed. I have been going crazy with so many amazing things to share and no way to share them! But alas, here I am – back and so excited to share some amazing drug store products that have changed my makeup routine and helped me get out of the house looking beautiful faster than ever.

Part one is all about the basics of the face – we’re talking about my favorite primer, concealer, BB cream, and foundation. Let’s get straight into it…

  1. NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer ($13 at Target) – Unless I’m in a hurry, I will ALWAYS start my makeup off with this primer. When I was getting ready for a wedding a few months back, a sister-friend of mine had this in her hand and was applying it onto her face. I remember being so perplexed and asking her what it was (because it legitimately looks like honey) and she told me to try it out. Y’all… My life hasn’t been the same since. Containing real honey, gold flakes, and collagen in it, this primer will make your skin smooth as a baby’s bottom, cleanse it (because of the honey), and give it anatural glow as well. The best part? It will last you 4-6 months!Screen Shot 2017-08-15 at 3.06.06 PM.png
  2. Garnier SkinActive Anti-Aging BB Cream ($10 at Target) – After I put on my primer, this is the next step for me. In the summer, I use the Medium/Deep color, and then gradually switch to the Light/Medium when it gets closer to winter. I love this because it’s perfect for every season of the year, has amazing coverage with a minimal amount, and keeps my face so moisturized! I have been using this for years now, and absolutely love the coverage I get by using so little makeup. Because I don’t know about you, but I hate feeling like I have layers upon layers of makeup on my face. This BB cream also doubles up as a sunscreen, so when you’re in the sun all day, you’re at a smaller risk of sun damage! Just be sure to watch the expiration dates on this – I’ve found that Screen Shot 2017-08-15 at 3.35.00 PM.pngwhen I’m not paying attention to the day it expires it will cause my face to break out.
  3. Revlon PhotoReady Matte Powder ($11 at Target) – Once my BB cream is set and stone, I throw on a light layer of this Matte Powder. This foundation not only has fantastic coverage (even with a thin layer on), but takes away any shine on the face, which I usually struggle with in the summer. Unless I get insanely pale one winter, I will typically wear the shade Medium/Deep year ’round!
  4. L’Oreal Paris True Match Concealer ($6 at 61sbGC1WtnL._SY679_.jpgWalmart) -While I don’t typically use concealer (because the BB cream and powder cover enough), this one is my absolute go to if I ever need it. I mean really, I have been swearing by this stuff for YEARS now! It’s does a fantastic job of covering whatever you want to go unseen without feeling heavy on your skin, or making your pimples get even larger while it’s on them (anyone know what I mean?!). With the paint brush feel it has on the end, it’s also perfect to outline your brows with for the crisp and perfect eyebrows. I use Light/Medium (C4-5) all year ’round and it is perfect for me!

If you try any of these products out, I want to know your thoughts! Also, what are your favorite drug store brands for makeup? Comment below and let me know!

Part 2 – Eyes and Lips is coming soon!
